Vidatum Presents on AI, Open Source and Research Management Systems at the First CEE Congress in Brussels

It has been a week since Vidatum’s Co-Founder, Simon Cullen, attended the first CEE Congress for Research Managers in Brussels. We were delighted not only to take part in this milestone event, but also to contribute to the programme.

The congress brought together professionals dedicated to strengthening research management across Central and Eastern Europe. With a nearly full schedule of meetings and sessions, the conversations throughout the event were open, thoughtful and forward-looking, highlighting both the shared challenges and the significant opportunities facing institutions across the region.

Simon delivered a session on Research Management Systems, Open Source, and AI in Research Management, exploring how innovation and transparency can empower institutions and research teams. The discussion focused on how modern systems can support evolving institutional needs while remaining flexible, interoperable and future-ready.

At Vidatum, these themes are central to our ongoing development work. Our platform has been enhanced with AI features and open-source integrations to ensure it remains aligned with the latest advances in research management and continues to meet the changing needs of universities and research institutions.

We extend our sincere thanks to PolSCA for organising the congress, for the opportunity to contribute, and for fostering a growing and collaborative CEE research management community.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and to participating in next year’s CEE Congress
